Pneumatic Ballistocardiography Sensor Technology

Development of a Pneumatic Ballistocardiography (BCG) Sensor Enabling Non-Contact Biometric Measurement Without Daily Discomfort

DolbomDream was the first to discover that utilizing air as a medium in conventional ballistocardiography improves accuracy and developed a pneumatic BCG sensor based on this finding. Recognizing the limitations in effectiveness and convenience of existing lifelog collection methods such as smartwatches and AI speakers, the company researched unconscious and non-invasive biometric measurement methods and independently developed a highly accurate and reliable BCG sensor. This technology achieves accuracy comparable to conventional contact-based sensors without direct skin contact.

Ballistocardiography (BCG)
A method that measures biometric signals based on vibrations generated by the human body. It does not require electrodes and enables continuous monitoring, offering a potential alternative to conventional device-based methods. However, due to limitations in accuracy and reliability, it had not been commercialized previously.

Conventional Lifelog Collection Methods

Smartwatch / Smart Ring
  • Statistically, over 90% of people in their 60s and older do not wear them due to discomfort
  • Measurements vary significantly depending on wrist position, wearing method, and movement
  • Due to the characteristics of the PPG method, measurement is difficult for elderly users with low peripheral blood flow
AI Speaker
  • Operates only through direct user commands
  • Currently being removed by multiple institutions
CCTV
  • High cost and privacy concerns
  • Direct opposition from senior users, the primary customer group
Radar
  • Requires fixed installation location and cannot measure outdoors
  • With the increase of active seniors, many are not confined to indoor environments

DolbomDream’s Pneumatic BCG Sensor

Biometric Signal Collection Method
Air cells wrap around the body to detect subtle movements, enabling easy collection without relying on weight like a film-type sensor
Durability
No direct pressure is applied to the sensor, ensuring high durability and minimal performance degradation over long-term use
Installation & Flexibility
Applicable in various environments and can be flexibly installed on beds or chairs to wrap around the body
Measurement Accuracy
Air cells evenly detect subtle body movements, maintaining consistent signal quality

  • Smartwatch / Smart Band
Requires direct skin contact, and accuracy decreases when perspiration occurs
  • Capacitive ECG
High cost and significant device noise cause inconvenience in use
  • Radar Method
Signal interference and overlap occur, making it difficult to distinguish between users
  • Ballistocardiography Sensor
Non-contact biometric data collection technology independently developed by DolbomDream

Certification

Pneumatic BCG Sensor Recognized for Originality and Excellence

To enhance the reliability of biometric data collection, DolbomDream obtained KOLAS certification, verifying 100% data collection and measurement accuracy. KOLAS is a statutory institution established under the Framework Act on National Standards, and its issued certificates and test reports are recognized as highly reliable and can be used as legal evidence.
